I say we should chalk it up to overspending and poor management. Kimbo got them ratings, so you can't say that focusing on him was what killed them. They were making huge mistakes long before they signed him.
Look at it like this: Jaime Kellner killed WCW. The company made a ton of mistakes and were sinking fast, but even with all of their money loss, they could still be around today if Kellner hadn't said, "Nah, we don't need wrestling any more." Likewise, Seth Petruzelli ultimately killed EXC, because his comments about being paid to stand with Kimbo got EXC investigated by the commission, and that's why CBS decided they didn't want to buy the company.
Actually, Ken Shamrock killed EXC! If he hadn't gotten himself cut, he would have fought Kimbo, and win or lose, he wouldn't have been stupid enough to say what Seth said, even if it was true.
Okay, a lot of people killed EXC. Don't blame Kimbo exclusively.
