I myself like Rock Band better. The look and actually being able to get through one solo on hard is a plus...haha. I also don't really like the battle stuff on Guitar Hero. It would be a whole lot different if the computer didn't get every note right while playing.

I'll vote Rock Band for your reasons... although i do not play either one. I just bought "Boogie" for my wife and she seems to really like it.

Well, you're also basing this solely on Guitar Hero III and specifically their Battle aspect.
In general terms, Guitar Hero wins hands down. They have 4 different versions of the game with 2 more coming out soon. I do dislike the idea of having an ALL AEROSMITH Guitar Hero game, but it still adds a lot of songs to their already huge list.
Rock Band is 1 game with a new twist, drums and a microphone. Note that Guitar Hero IV is going to have the same, with a far better looking drum kit. It should also be noted that half of the original guitar hero creators now work on Rock Band. Essentially Guitar Hero and Rock Band are the same game with a few small modifications here and there.
Ask anybody and they will tell you Guitar Hero III is more difficult than previous Guitar Hero releases.
